Welcome to the about us section of Versatile Marine.
Buying stuff on the internet can be a scary business if you have never used the company before, we are all internet users ourselves at Versatile Marine, so we understand.
We have decided to a to put a little bit about ourselves on here, so you can get to know the team a bit better!
If you call the shop or the mail order line, you will get hold of either Abbie or Chris.
Abbie has been in the Chandlery & Engine Parts business since 1994. Coming from a nautical background, sailing and boating has always been a big part of her life, cruising on the family yacht all over the world at a young age, then competively saling dinghys and keelboats. After leaving school, she joined the merchant navy and saw the world for a few years before gaining her Yachtmasters and joining professional sailing boat crews. In 1994 she started in the chandlery trade, and having worked as a parts manager for a Volvo Penta & Mercruiser dealer, decided selling aftermarket parts was the way forward!
Abbie can offer advice on most types of boats and engines, and is always keen to help out with technical issues. Hobbys include, Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Photography , Skiing and of course sailing!

Chris joined Abbie in the aftermarket parts industry in 2008 after Graduating from Oxford Brookes with a degree in Automotive Engineering BEng Hons, and discovered quickly that his heart lay more with boats than cars and decided to pursue a career in the marine trade.
Chris is a keen sailor and regularly competes in national competitons in his Laser.
Chris has an excellent knowledge base of Mercruiser, Volvo Penta & Yanmar Parts and is excellent on the all the techy side of things.Give him a new set of Pistons to play with and it keeps him quiet for ages!
When he's not working hard at Versatile, you can find him under the bonnet of his high performance Audi S4 , surfing, kayak, biking or on the water.
If its our workshop your after, its father and son team Peter & Phil that will be on hand.
Peter , has always enjoyed messing about in boats.
He comes from an engineering background, and has a degree in Mining Engineering, BEng Hons, ACSM, has travelled extensively around the UK and abroad on major underground tunneling projects, and has a massive amount of technical and business knowledge that he brings to the company.
He decided the Marine trade was for him when he first purchased the engineering side of the business a few years ago, and has since driven Versatile Marine Services along, to become an all encompassing marine business, which covers a wide range of water bourne activities.
Peter throws a mean dart, and enjoys getting out on the water whenever he can, he's currently rebuilding a Mercruiser in his sportsboat ready to do a bit of wakeboarding this summer!
Phil (or Badger as we prefer to call him) is our workshop man. He has over 35 years of experience in the trade, and is a fully qualified fitter and machinist.
He loves nothing more than to get an old broken part, and make it like new again!
When he's not tied to the lathe, you can often find him rambling around the cornish country side!
